Advancements in Fracture Detection
Timely and precise detection of fractures is crucial in treating trauma patients to provide appropriate care and avoid long-lasting issues. Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly vital in this area by enhancing accuracy and streamlining medical imaging processes.
During the RSNA 2023 event, researchers presented findings showing that AI excelled in detecting fractures that are commonly missed by radiologists—an indication of the benefits of using AI in diagnostic procedures. Additionally, the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) acknowledged the importance of AI in guiding clinical decisions by endorsing AZtrauma, now part of Rayvolve® AI Suite, for multiple applications.
These advancements signify a transformation in diagnostic methods, where AI is not only supporting radiologists but actively enhancing patient outcomes.
AZtrauma represents a significant advancement in fracture detection. Developed by AZmed and powered by deep learning models trained on a database containing more than 15 million X-ray scans, AZtrauma aims to improve the precision of diagnostic procedures. In research conducted at SimonMed Imaging Centers, the integration of AI technology led to a 39-hour reduction in the time taken to diagnose fracture-positive cases, showcasing its profound impact on streamlining radiology workflows.
